The new way consumers have found to consolidate their debt when they have debt and bad credit has been to use the conveniences of check cashing services. This is a growing service many people use and very often, it is one that will initiate the movement of bankruptcy because the individual isn’t really making any headway in paying off their debt.

Check cashing services used to consolidate existing debt is very expensive and does little to help the person who uses it. For example, if you are in debt and can’t meet your monthly payments and decide to use a check cashing service, you’ll have another payment due in a few weeks time frame. Furthermore, it is very expensive to borrow money from a check cashing service.

Usually a check cashing service will have the customer write a check for the amount they wish to borrow plus a fee of $30-$50 for using the money. In two weeks, the customer’s check will be deposited or the client can stop the deposit by going into the check cashing service, paying the fee and renewing the loan for another 2 weeks. In one month’s time, very often, the client will pay up to $100 in check fees to use the money.

Debt consolidation with bad credit is tough. However, if you choose to consolidate your debt using check cashing services, you will soon find you can’t pay the fees you accumulate there either. The solution isn’t found at these businesses. It creates a bigger problem.

The best solution for someone is to seek credit counseling. Talk to someone at a debt consolidation service. See someone at a loan company or a bank and try to work diligently to get the debt off of you and your family. If all else fails, pick up a second job for a short time. If you are married, see if you and your spouse can pick up a second job you can share like a newspaper route or cleaning office buildings. Start a lawn business part time or do something you enjoy from home. There are many opportunities to work from home now available on the internet.

Remember, debt isn’t a death sentence, but it is a debt sentence and one that will get longer and longer if you don’t take the initiative to get out of it before it continues to mount. Solutions aren’t found in creating more debt and that’s what the check cashing services allow you to do—create more debt. Bad debt consolidation is tough but if you are going to try to do it, at least be wise when you do.
