Credit Cards: Consolidate While You Still Can
Do you have a lot of credit cards looming in your wallet? If you do, then you are in debt without a doubt. You may not realize you are in debt until it is too late. In today’s world, the consumer who has credit cards often looks at plastic in the same way he or she views cash—it’s their money.
Credit cards, should never be viewed as cash or as “money”. In fact, the only reason anyone should even use a credit card is to reserve a hotel room, car or make another reservation for something that mandates securing the reservation with a credit card. In that case, the consumer should use the card to secure the reservation and then pay cash upon arrival or pay off the credit card at the end of the month.
Sure, business accounts and day to day business often require a person to use a credit card and when it does, there is no reason to keep the bill in rotation, quickly pay it off! Don’t look at it as if you paid for the service or good when you pulled out a credit card. It isn’t bought and paid for until you pay the credit card bill!
The problem consumers face with credit cards is they have too many of them and most of the time, they are issued far too much credit at a young age. When this happens, they are usually able to go through the growth process of acquiring more and more credit cards until suddenly it becomes obvious to the credit card companies, they have yet one more person in credit card debt. They quit approaching the consumer with offers of more cards and more credit and suddenly become concerned they can’t collect the money they have extended to the consumer as credit.
This happens usually around the same time that the consumer realizes the plastic in his or her wallet no longer has an available credit line. When the consumer realizes he or she is in credit card debt is when it becomes necessary to get a credit card debt consolidation. If they decide to wait until the calls and letters begin, it is often too late to secure a loan for a credit card consolidation loan.
If you are going to use credit cards, use them responsibly. Pay them off at the end of the month. Don’t use them as a necessity but instead, use them only as a matter of convenience. You’ll be glad you did.
